今回のアーティスト・呉 卓 霖(Chakurin Go)の個展は、「Mr.POPCHAミスターポップチャ」と「Midnight Animals真夜中の動物たち」の2つのセクションに分かれています。 彼女は都会の観察者として芸術を創作 してきて、せせわしなく動く都会の中の、さびしい 男女を、私たちは窓の 外に立って、あるいは遠くのどこかに隠れ て、この孤独な覗き見者になっていました。
『Mr.POPCHA ミスターポップチャ』は、1932 年に発表 されたアルドウス・ハックスリーのディストピア的sf小説 『 すばらしい新世界』に対する 芸術家の個人的な反省であります。ポップチャは 芸術家が 現実人物の原型に基づいて 作った仮想のキャラクターです。
彼は再加工をしたスナック菓子、炭酸や糖水が 麻薬のように中毒になり、家に引きこもって現実世界との接触を拒んだ、スナック菓子を食べながら、 画面の陰に隠れて世界 を覗き見していたが、 画面の向こうにある真実がどんなものなのかは知らず、気にも留めず、ただ「 面白い 」ニュースを見ていたかったのです。
娯楽にあふれた今の時代 、私 たちは欲望にとらわれ、 感覚 に支配され、コントロールされています。 人々は共に落ちぶれ、そして落ちぶれに甘んじ ています。
「Midnight Animals真夜中の 動物たち」は、 若者の世界である真夜中の東京を観察して作った作品であります 。閉店間際 の商店街で自動販売機の明かりを借りてスケートボードの 練習をする青年 、コンビニの 店先でインスタントラーメンを食べて空腹を満たす会社帰りの社畜 、オフィスビルの角の喫茶店で、ハンドドリップのコーヒーを待っていた男 。 彼らは慌ただしく 、それぞれのことをして、それぞれの目的地に向かい、 夜の闇は優しい巨獣のように、 人の見えないところで、 黙って見つめていました。
Chakurin.Go's solo exhibition has two parts: POPCHA and Midnight Animals. Go take the approach as an urban observer in her artwork. In this busy city, the lonely men and women, just like us, standing outside of the window, or hiding in a corner from a distance, become the Peeping Tom of the loneliness.
Mr. POPCHA is a self-reflection for the book - Brave New World (1932) - by Aldous Huxley. POPCHA is a fictional character constructed based on a real person. He is addicted to food, especially for all the reprocessed puffed snacks and carbonated sugar water. He hides at his own home, refuses to socialise with the real world, Eating snacks, peeping at the world behind the screen, he didn't know, he didn't care, what the truth was on the other side of the screen (the real world), He is only interested in some "ínteresting" news. In an era full of entertainment, we are blinded by desire, ruled and controlled by our senses. Everyone is lost in it and willing to get lost together.
Midnight Animal is based on an observation of night in Tokyo by the artist. The night of Tokyo is full of young generations, some skater boys practicing skateboarding with the dim lights of vending machines outside the closed commercial street shops, a hungry worker sucking cup noodles after just finishing work at midnight, a lonely man waiting for a cup of filter coffee at the corner shop downstairs of the office building. They all walked in a hurry, doing their own things, rushing towards their own destinations, the night is like a gentle monster, watching silently where people cannot see.

吴卓霖
生于中国，广东省，现居东京，是一名艺术家和平面设计师。先后毕业于中央美术学院视觉传达系，东京艺术大学GAP学科，作为一名跨学科艺术家，吴卓霖主要表现媒介为视觉艺术装置和图像插画。她坚持艺术源于对日常生活的观察，她善于以轻松的艺术表达方式引导观众往社会性的深层思考。同时她注重于作品的互动性，希望能让观众参与到作品之中并有身临其境的感觉。她认为“艺术应该打破场地和限制的界限，任何地方都可以成为展出的场所，只要你找到合适的表达方式” .
Chakurin.Go
Born in Cantone, China. Chakurin is an international artist and graphic designer now living and working in Tokyo. Having graduated from China Academy of Art in 2015, she is now pursuing her art practice in Global Art Practice at Tokyo University of Art. An interdisciplinary artist, Chakurin’s principal mediums are visual art, installation and image. She insists that art originally comes from daily life, she uses the ordinary object to create art. Another research direction is participatory art, how to engage with a broader audience is essential to Chakurin’s working philosophy. ‘Art should break the boundary of sites and limitations, any place could be a venue for art, as long as you find your own niche’.
